Dolomites Hikes

Hiking in Val di Fassa Getaway

Experience 3 days hiking on this 5 day getaway, discovering the enchanted Valley of Fassa, surrounded by a masterpiece of mountains with incredible views and legendary tales to accompany your journey.

Trip Overview

In Val di Fassa, at the heart of the enchanted rocky Dolomites, summer loves to wake up in Fuciade, among the sun-drenched barns.
It runs freely over alpine pastures and rifugios, until it reaches the crystal-clear waterfalls in the San Nicolò Valley.
It enters the fir forest and pirouettes on the ridges of the Monzoni group, gently tickling her majesty, Queen Marmolada, then reaches  the Contrin Valley. It inebriates itself with the sweet fragrance of flowers and the hypnotic scent of hay, among the pastures of Val Duron. Summer emerges from alpine lakes and Dolomite springs.
It somersaults over soft meadows and opens its dances in villages dressed up to welcome the evening lights.
A fiery Enrosadira (the famous red sunset) announces the magic hour, a time when all promises of freedom, discovery and wonder are renewed.
On this fascinating getaway itinerary, not only will you hike to the summit of famous peaks and marvel at  breathtaking panoramas.
You will also have the chance to step into history while walking through actual WWI trenches and tunnels located along the former Austro-Hungarian frontline.
To top it all, you will savor the most delicious and genuine mountain food and experience the real mountaineering life by spending your nights in characteristic mountain huts called rifugios. Are you ready for this adventure?

Want to learn more about our Mountain Inns & Rifugi?
Rifugi – or mountain huts in English – are the classic accommodation for hikers, climbers, mountaineers, and ski mountaineers in the Alps. Set in spectacular locations high in the Dolomites, rifugi are accessible only on foot (with a few exceptions that are reachable by car). These marvelous establishments are open primarily in the summer, with a select few in winter, and offer meals and sleeping facilities.

The Dolomite rifugi are considered the best in the Alps. While some are dormitory style with bunk beds, many meet the standard of a simple guest house with private rooms and en-suite bathrooms, and each has its own unique character and charm. Bedding and linens are provided, hot showers are available, and meals are served in common dining areas – like a small mountain inn set high in the mountains with the most incredible vistas in the Dolomites. Whether you’re hiking in summer or skiing in winter, an overnight rifugio stay is not to miss on a Dolomite holiday.

To learn even more about rifugi in the Dolomites, check out our Rifugios in the Dolomites article, and learn about one of the best ways to experience these incredible mountains!
