Dolomites Ski Resorts

The Dolomiti Superski is the jewel in the crown of what’s on offer for skiing in the Dolomites: 15 resorts featuring 1,200 kilometers (745 miles) of prepared pistes, 460 lifts, and 475 interconnected runs to suit all levels. Cortina d’Ampezzo

If you’ve only heard of one resort in the Dolomites, it’s probably Cortina d’Ampezzo. Host to the 1956 Winter Olympics, and co-host to the 2026 Winter Olympics, Cortina offers some of the most exhilarating and beautiful alpine ski runs in the world. With a total of 120 kilometers (74 miles) of piste serviced by 36 lifts, and a ski season that lasts from November to April, skiers of any skill level can find what they are looking for here. There are also plenty of other activities to participate in, such as snowshoeing, mountaineering, ice-skating, and snowboarding, as well as gourmet dining and shopping. There is something for everyone at Cortina d’Ampezzo!

Arabba / Marmolada

To the west of Cortina are the Arabba and Marmolada resorts, with a combined 62 kilometers (38 miles) of slopes serviced by 26 lifts. Arabba offers something for everyone, from easy beginner slopes to expert black runs, with slopes just feet from your doorstep. The Marmolada resort is set right on the Marmolada Massif, the highest mountain here at 3,342 meters (10,965'), and home to the largest remaining glacier in the Dolomites. Marmolada is also host to the longest ski run in the Dolomites: the “Bellunese,” which offers 12 kilometers (7 miles) of piste for an 1,810-meter (5,906’) descent. Both resorts are connected to fantastic ski tours – the Great War Tour (Marmolada) and the Sellaronda (Arabba).

Val di Fassa

Canazei, Campitello, Mazzin, Pozza, Vigo, Soraga, Moena... 110 km of slopes, 54 lifts, 4 mountain passes on skis. From the easiest ones to those reserved for real ski-pro. When it comes to slopes, in Val di Fassa there’s something for everyone and you’ll have the opportunity to discover other ski resorts, thanks to the direct access to the Sellaronda Skitour! 

If a fun, relaxing atmosphere is what you seek, Kronplatz is the perfect destination.  Kronplatz is considered the main skiing hub in Val Pusteria, and for good reason.  In addition to from the excellent 105 kilometers (65 miles) of ski slopes, the area is surrounded by tradition, with over 40 mountain huts and several restaurants serving local delicacies.  Enjoy the relaxing après-ski that is taken so seriously here, and experience a little bit of everything. 

Val Gardena/Alpe di Siusi, Val di Fassa/Carezza, and the Araba/Marmolada are all part of the ski area that surrounds the Sella Group of mountains, which collectively provide 500 kilometers (311 miles) of wonderfully interconnected slopes. From here there is ample access to the Sellaronda, the famous circuit of ski runs around this massif, across the four passes, which the native Ladins historically used to keep in contact with the other inhabitants in the area.

• At Val Gardena/Alpe di Siusi skiers will be thrilled to experience the world renowned Sassolungo, the Sciliar, Cir, and the Sella Group, which surround the ski area with a total of 83 lifts servicing 175 kilometers (109 miles) of slopes. The 2,563 meter (8,409') Sciliar is omnipresent at Alpe di Siusi, a welcoming family friendly resort.

• Val di Fassa features nine different ski areas with more than 200 kilometers (124 miles) of runs serviced by 80 lifts, with vistas of Sasso Piatto, Sella, and Marmolada; while Carezza, idyllically situated between Latemar and Catinaccio, is heaven for families and children with relaxing descents, and nearby challenging slopes for experts.

• Arabba is among those exclusive winter sport centers where the slopes are right outside the hotel door. And Marmolada, the famous ski resort at the foot of the glacier, is named for the highest mountain here at 3,342 meters (10,965'), considered the "Queen of the Dolomites."

These slopes provide unforgettable experiences for even the most distinguished skier, and skiers will be thrilled to experience these world-renowned pistes and ski the same runs where world championships have been won.

Next, located in the heart of the Dolomites is the Alta-Badia resort. Not only does Alta Badia offer year-round scenic views and activities to satisfy any outdoor enthusiast, it is also home to the rich Ladin culture of northern Italy, with its many traditions that make this region so unique. At the resort you will find 130 kilometers (81 miles) of prepared pistes, serviced by 52 modern ski lifts. Its centrally located position in the Dolomiti Superski also provides access the runs around the Sella massif, and makes it the perfect starting point for some of the most beautiful ski tours in the Alps: the Sellaronda, the Great War Tour, and the route to the Marmolada Glacier.

The Sextner Dolomiten-Alta Pusteria is known as the Dolomites ski paradise, and provides an excellent skiing experience for both advanced skiers and beginners.  There are plenty of opportunities here to learn the basics of the sport, with the resort offering lessons and specials, including allowing kids to ski for free.  It’s the perfect family ski destination.

Similarly, Val di Fiemme/Obereggen are perfectly situated and offer a little bit of everything for the ski enthusiast. Val di Fiemme boasts five ski resorts and two cross-country ski centers while Obereggen offers guests incredible scenic views and guaranteed snow. The family friendly atmosphere and wide variety of additional activities, such as ice skating, gourmet dining, theatrical shows, and plenty of fun for children of all ages make this ski area a wonderful location to vacation with the entire family. 

Those seeking a well-rounded ski experience set amidst a backdrop of mesmerizing landscapes will find that the San Martino di Castrozza/Passo Rolle is the place to be. 24 ski lifts provide ample access to the perfect snow-covered slopes and breathtaking panoramic views provide a unique and unforgettable ski experience. Advanced skiers can attempt the Carosello delle Malghe (45 kilometers [28 miles] of runs in the charming areas of Tognola, Valcigolera and Ces), while beginners can take lessons with one of the over 100 instructors available at the local ski schools.

The Valle Isarco is another resort that offers year-round recreation and relaxation for visitors. The winter brings skiing, sledding and skating while warmer months make way for hiking and climbing. As with most any area in the Dolomites, the Valle Isarco is a location rich with scenic views and a beautiful glimpse of nature. 

Three valleys comprise the world famous Trevalli-Moena/San Pellegrino/Falcade resort complex, with its 100 kilometers (62 miles) of perfectly maintained runs, where snow is guaranteed by the state of the art artificial snow systems. There are also 60 kilometers (37 miles) of cross-country ski trails to enjoy. Recreationists of all ages will find something fun to do here. Its prime location, in the centre of the Trentino and Veneto Dolomites, with the mountain chains of Pale di San Martino, Monzoni, Catinaccio, and Marmolada towering overhead, this resort complex is the perfect destination for adventure seekers and sight-seers alike.

The last resort on the list is Civetta, but it is certainly not to be considered any less remarkable than the others already listed. Situated in the heart of the Veneto Dolomites, Civetta is made up of romantic villages and cozy hotels, providing a lovely getaway from the rest of the busy world. There are plenty of opportunities to ski here, with 25 lifts and over 80 kilometers (50 miles) of slopes to tackle. Families and children are welcomed here with the warm atmosphere, rich with tradition and history.
