A Taste of ‘La Dolce Vita’ in the Veneto Region: History, Vespa & Prosecco Culture

The Prosecco region is located 50 kilometers (31 miles) from Venice, halfway between the Dolomites and the Adriatic Sea, in the foothills of the Veneto region. The location and low altitudes create an ideal climate for growing the grapes used to make Prosecco, as well as incredibly beautiful terrain.

Follina is a picturesque village with ancient origins, situated on the “Strada del Prosecco” (the Prosecco wine route). Immersed in the lush green landscape of, this small community is situated in the foothills of the Alpi Trevigiane (Treviso Alps). Today, the town is an important cultural center, composed of seventeenth century palazzi (palaces), as well as being a hub of industry and craftsmanship, resulting from the buoyant hotel trade.

In the morning, take a short transfer to Vittorio Veneto (~30 minutes), where you will pick up your Vespa. Explore the Prosecco area, with it’s more than 100 "Prosecco Hills," as you leisurely wind your way between wine cellars, farm houses, and ancient villages. This area, between Conegliano and Valdobbiadene, Is a unique UNESCO heritage site. There are more than 120 kilometers (74 miles) of narrow winding roads for you to ride your Vespa here, passing through villages and towns where you can smell the taste of the centuries-old art of wine making. And don’t forget to sample the local food and traditional products you can find in the many local shops and restaurants. Why not roll into a medieval village, catch the magnificent aroma of a local restaurant, and settle in for lunch – accompanied by a glass of Prosecco, of course!

In the evening enjoy a Prosecco tasting at the courtyard of your hotel, followed by a delicious gourmet dinner at “La Corte."restaurant.

After breakfast this morning, leave your luggage at the reception desk and begin your second day of Vespa touring. Ride to the top of Passo San Boldo (706m / 2,316'). This stunningly beautiful road includes 18 numbered hairpin turns, six bridges, and five tunnels, with some of the hairpin turns actually inside the tunnels! The road is not just unique for it’s twists and turns, but also for it’s construction: during WWI the Austro-Hungarian army built the road just 100 days for refueling during the Battle of Piave, and was thus nicknamed the “Road of 100 Days".
Continue to the canyon of Brent de l’Art, a geological gem with magical red canyons carved by the Ardo River. In the afternoon, ride to Vittorio Veneto to drop off your Vespa.

Take a private transfer to the charming town of Asolo (~1 hour driving) and check in to your hotel. Asolo is a charming medieval hill town, with steep winding streets that weave between buildings that seem to cling to the hillside. Your luggage will await you at your hotel in Asolo.
Enjoy dinner at the restaurant of your hotel.

After breakfast, meet your local English speaking guide for a private tour of some of the most beautifully preserved villages in all of Italy. Tucked into the plains and hillsides of the Veneto region, each of these villages was once governed by the Republic of Venice. You’ll note the symbol of Venice in each village: Saint Mark’s Winged Lion. While the towns of Asolo, Marostica, and Bassano del Grappa share this common history and each have a castle protecting them from invasion, each have their own unique personalities that will surely captivate you.
Return to your hotel for your final night in this wonderful region of Italy.
