Trip Overview
Begin your journey in the charming alpine village of Sesto/Sexten, nestled at 1,310m (4,298') above sea level in the heart of South Tyrol. Known as a paradise for lovers of the outdoors, with its endless hiking trails, idyllic lakes, and cultural treasures, Sesto offers easy access to iconic landmarks like the Tre Cime di Lavaredo and is the perfect starting point for your Dolomites adventure.
Kick off your hiking with a guided trek through the majestic Sesto / Sexten Dolomites. You'll ascend to a classic Dolomites rifugio, then continue your journey through the alpine pastures of Malga Alpe Nemes before descending to Passo Monte Croce di Comelico.
Next, you'll take your adventure to new heights—literally—with a 30-minute paragliding flight. Launch from Mount Elmo and glide above the Dolomites, soaking in unparalleled views of this UNESCO World Heritage Site.
After navigating the skies, you'll swap your hiking boots for bikes as you venture out on a cycling journey through the picturesque Val Pusteria. Ride from Sesto to San Candido, cross into Austria's East Tyrol region, and stop at the famous Loacker factory, where you can indulge in their delicious wafers and chocolates. You'll then get to explore the cozy town of San Candido, known for its Romanesque church, historic sites, and the fascinating Dolomythos Museum.
Dive deeper into the Dolomites with a scenic hike through Val Fiscalina, renowned for its wildflower meadows, dense forests, and striking rock faces, and you'll have the option to challenge yourself with an extra climb, where along the way, you'll pass remnants of World War I trenches, adding a historical dimension to your adventure.
Experience the crown jewel of hiking in the Dolomites—the Tre Cime di Lavaredo. This spectacular hike takes you through the UNESCO-designated Tre Cime Nature Park, with views of the legendary peaks Cima Piccola, Cima Grande, and Cima Ovest. Conclude your multisport adventure in the Dolomites with an exhilarating adventure park or, if you prefer, a climbing experience, making it a fitting end to your unforgettable journey.

Accommodation
Great hotels with Dolomite Mountains. Whether intimate lodge, family run B&B, or luxury spa resort, our hotels are unique, eminently local, and hard to leave.
The Dolomites has a multi-faceted culture and history that is reflected in each village we visit, and we make sure to provide you with the most authentic experience of the region possible through the hotels and B&Bs we offer. Hotels and chalets are available in the larger villages, while agriturismos (working farms with accommodations similar to B&Bs) are more common in rural areas. And we always make sure you have access to inspired regional cuisine and the best panoramas you can get in the Dolomites!
Want to learn more about our Mountain Inns & Rifugios?
Rifugios – or mountain huts in English – are the classic accommodation for hikers, climbers, mountaineers, and ski mountaineers in the Alps. Set in spectacular locations high in the Dolomites, rifugios are accessible only on foot (with a few exceptions that are reachable by car). These marvelous establishments are open primarily in the summer, with a select few in winter, and offer meals and sleeping facilities.
The Dolomite rifugios are considered the best in the Alps. While some are dormitory style with bunk beds, others meet the standard of a simple guest house with private rooms and en-suite bathrooms, and each has its own unique character and charm. Hot showers are available, and meals are served in common dining areas – like a small mountain inn set high in the mountains with the most incredible vistas in the Dolomites. Whether you’re hiking in summer or skiing in winter, an overnight rifugio stay is not to miss on a Dolomite holiday.
To learn even more about rifugios in the Dolomites, check out our Rifugios in the Dolomites article, and learn about one of the best ways to experience these incredible mountains!
Want even more? Why not extend your adventure!
Dolomite Mountains offers fantastic extensions that you can enjoy before or after your trip in the Dolomites. Explore Venice, Verona, Lake Garda, Florence, or Milan, or any of the many other magical places found throughout Italy. There's no more perfect way to recover from jet lag upon arrival, or delay your return to reality at the end of your trip!
