Hike the Ladin Valleys of Val Gardena, Val di Fassa and Alta Badia
Dear Anna, Alan and I wanted to thank you for the great trip and for helping us with the logistics for the days that we added. The trek through the Alpe di Siusi to Rifugio Bolzano was a great way to start the trip and it is a really cool place to stay.
The valleys along the Sella Massif are really beautiful and it is a great place to walk. I wish we had had more time to see Corvara and the area around there; there's a reason to go back! I thought the hotel there (Ciasa de Munt) was great and we got to see the fireworks that night from the summer celebration from our porch.
We ended up having a great hike that last day in Corvara. We made it only part of the way from the gondola to the Rifugio Pralongia before the rain started coming down in sheets, but we had gotten to the Rifugio i Tabla and had a great lunch there. After the storm stopped, the sun came out and we made it out to Pralongia and back to the gondola down to town but just as we reached the gondola it closed because of lightning, so we had a coffee in the Rifugio before making it back down. Really stunning views from up there.
We also wanted to specifically mention Marica and what a great guide she was. In my mind she was the perfect combination of a professional mountain guide who knows the area well and is focused on her clients and an interesting companion for the trek. We had a really good time with her.
I also thought Walter and his hotel, Garni Planaces in Ortisei, were great. He was very nice, helpful, and knowledgeable about the area.
Again, thank you. We had a great time and you did a great job organizing this trip. The Dolomites are really one of the most beautiful and dramatic landscapes I've ever seen. We have been talking them up here and showing our pictures to everyone. I'm already planning a ski trip with my wife and kids!
