Hiking and Via Ferrata Adventure in the Dolomites
Your help in changing the initial plans due to the Hurricane Irma was awesome. Getting to meet you and give you personal account of our trip as a bonus. It would have been odd to not get the chance to personally thank you while in Alta Badia. I would highly recommend you and Dolomite Mountains to any one. I also have my fingers crossed that the opportunity will be there again next year. I will contact you in a few months or so to start planning the next trip!
Both hotels that we stayed at, were very well run, very nice folks, and the food was superb. The table fare that we had at the Hotel in Alta Badia was outstanding to say the least. In fact, it may have ruined our taste buds for any Italian restaurant back home. Thank you and I would recommend your selections based on the food alone!
The rifugios that we stayed at were awesome. I loved the difference between Rif. Bergamo and the Sassopiatto, and personally liked Bergamo better. Although the breakfast at Bergamo was bread and assorted jellies, butter or cheese. I am more of the old school type than the other options and both were very nice. For the next trip, I will plan more time on the trail than we did on this trip and will incorporate the guided via ferrata portion within the hike. For more of the trail experience in relation to the stays in hotels. I think anyways. The trip was truly awesome in all regards!
Our mountain guide I look for two days was truly a rock star. His knowledge of the area and it's relations to the WW1 were a huge bonus in addition to his professionalism and demeanor in which he commanded himself. He even took a small bit of time to help straighten a few other folks out who were ahead of us on the cables. They were not using their gear safely and he prevented them from harming themselves and creating a huge predicament. He was very nice, smiled, and told stories about his experience when I asked. Did not brag about himself or his skills like I have had with other guides. A fun gentleman who I would without a doubt ask for again or advice others towards.
In Venice, our guide Sara was a wealth of information. She was also very accommodating with getting a bit of food and a break to sit down for Reneé. Her ability to answer the specific questions that arose was perfect. It was a bummer that is was wet and windy while we were there, yet it kept the crowds down a bit. And the best part of the trip was that she took us to pieces of Venice that we saw no one and there was tons of unique aspects that were introduced to us even in these less traveled regions. She is a gem and do what you can to keep her on the Dolomite Mountain team. I am so glad that I added this small bit to the trip. It added a cultural piece rich in very old history and I would highly recommend that to all who fly into Venice.
Again, THANK YOU!!!!! The trip was beautiful, amazing views, and incredible mountain scenery. I will be in touch in the the future and planning has already begun for next years Dolomite excursion. Best of wishes for the winter season and may you find it filled with several meters of fresh powder all winter long.
