Hiking Around Tre Cime di Lavaredo and Fanes-Sennes-Braies Natural Park, July 2016
What a day! Absolutely best hiking day of the whole trip - longest (21,3 km) but so rewarding! What a variety of landscape! That is why we love Dolomites so much – every hour we entered a completely different scenery. Marmots spotted and photographed. Cows befriended. Croda Rossa admired and remembered. Lots of pictures of the rocks and alpine flowers taken.
We didn’t take the bus in the morning, and it was a good decision – this part of the hike was also very nice.
Malga Cavallo was a very good choice for lunch. Beautiful view.
Rifugio Fodara Vedla was a perfect spot for our last night during the hike. A very friendly place, beautifully located, large room with a luxurious private bathroom (a set of towels provided). Fantastic view from the balcony. Nice, home-style food (no choice, set menu, later however we noticed that some guests negotiated different dishes from the a la carte menu J ) served from 7 pm with no sharp closing hours.
We found it a little disappointing that in a place so rural, surrounded by gardens, apiaries and livestock, we were not given an opportunity to try any local products such as milk, cheeses, butter, honey, jam, anything. The breakfast buffet consisted of standard out-of-the-supermarket products.
More freely roaming cows – this time at the foot of the terrace of the rifugio! Cow bells recorded for further use as a wake-up alarm J.
Sun set over Croda Rossa – unforgettable.
Good drinkable tap water.
We spend the last night in Corvara. A charming little town. We will definitely come back!
Thank you!
Best regards,
