Giulia Orlandi
Giulia Orlandi was born in Trento in 1987. She grew up in San Lorenzo in Banale, one of Italy's most beautiful villages at the gates of the Brenta Dolomites.
Growing up surrounded by stunning majestic peaks, her passion for the mountains was also fuelled by her childhood adventures. She's always had a "mountaineering" nature. When she was three years old, her grandfather wrote in his diary about a trip to Mount Bondone in which she walked expeditiously like an "alpine" with a big smile on her face. She learned to ski at age four and, from then on, was climbing and skiing everywhere.
Giulia later gained her degree in physical therapy in Rovereto at the University of Verona. She continued her athletic journey with competitive swimming and track and field, which later evolved into competitive individual ski mountaineering and mountain running. Alongside her current position as a physical therapist, she's also an operator for the Trento Alpine Rescue and an avid collector of wild plants, seeking to deepen her knowledge and understanding of their properties and connection to the surrounding Dolomite Mountains.
In 2023, Giulia gained her certification as an AMM hiking guide and began guiding clients in 2024. Her guiding philosophy centers around sharing the joy of movement and the wonders of nature while instilling a deep respect for the mountains. You'll find her hiking her beloved treks that traverse the wild expanses of the Brenta Dolomites, particularly in Val d'Ambiez, known for its wild trails and incredible climbing routes, her favorite being the Concordia. And, when the day is done, she treats herself to her favorite Trentino dish, "Strangolapreti," which is very similar to the spinach Canerderli dumplings served with melted butter and parmesan. After, she finds it difficult to pass up a delicious slice of homemade pie!
We asked Giulia about her number one place beyond the Dolomites, and she replied with a resounding "Sardinia! Mainly for its crystal-clear sea and wonderful walls. In the mid-season, its mild climate is perfect for climbing and enjoying the sea without too many crowds; I really like its contrasts, and its wilder side is the ideal environment for an active vacation."
Giulia clearly loves travel and has extensively explored Peru, Bolivia, Argentina, Nepal, Jordan, Greece, Norway, Spain, France, Croatia, and Slovenia! She believes pushing beyond limits is important, as it opens your mind and horizons. In the future, she would love to visit Morocco, Pakistan, and Mongolia, which perfectly reflects her tenacious spirit of adventure!
So, pack your bags, prepare for a thrill, and join Giulia on your next beyond-extraordinary adventure!
